Catholic Church

StPetersBasilicaEarlyMorning.jpg
The Catholic Church, also known as the Roman Catholic Church, is the world's largest Christian church, claiming more than a billion members.[1] It is a communion of 23 Churches under the Bishop of Rome -the Pope-, and it defines its mission as spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ, administering the sacraments and exercising charity.
The Catholic Church is among the oldest institutions in the world and has played a prominent role in the history of Western civilisation.[2] It teaches that its bishops are the successors of Jesus Christ's apostles and that the Pope, as the successor ofSt. Peter, possesses a universal primacy.
Catholic doctrine maintains that the Church is infallible when it dogmatically teaches a doctrine of faith or morals.[3][4][note 1][5]Catholic worship is centred on the Eucharist in which the Church teaches bread and wine are supernaturally transubstantiatedinto the body and blood of Christ.
The Church holds the Blessed Virgin Mary in special regard. Catholic beliefs concerning Mary include her Immaculate Conception without the stain of original sin and bodily Assumption into heaven at the end of her life.

Christianity

Christianity (from the Ancient Greek word Χριστός, Khristos, "Christ", literally "anointed one") is a monotheistic religion[1] based on the life and teachings of Jesus as presented in canonical gospels and other New Testament writings.[2] Adherents of the Christian faith are known as Christians.[3]
Christianity teaches that Jesus is the Son of God, God having become human and the savior of humanity. Because of this, Christians commonly refer to Jesus as Christ or Messiah.[4] The three largest groups in the world of Christianity are the Roman Catholic Church, the Eastern Orthodox churches, and the various churches of Protestantism. The Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox patriarchates split from one another in the East-West Schism of 1054 AD, and Protestantism came into existence during the Protestant Reformation of the 16th century, splitting from the Roman Catholic Church.[5]
The word Christianity is the label that has been widely accepted by the secular and church-world to describe the practice of faith by the followers or disciples of Jesus Christ.
Christianity began as a Jewish sect in the mid-1st century.[6][7] Originating in the eastern Mediterranean coast of the Middle East (modern Israel and Palestine), it quickly spread to Syria, Mesopotamia, Asia Minor and Egypt, it grew in size and influence over a few decades, and by the 4th century had become the dominant religion within the Roman Empire.[8] During the Middle Ages, most of the remainder of Europe was Christianized, with Christians also being a sometimes large religious minority in the Middle East,North Africa, Ethiopia[9] and parts of India.[10] Following the Age of Discovery, through missionary work and colonization, Christianity spread to the Americas, Australasia, sub Saharan Africa and the rest of the world.
Jesus Christ is the central figure of Christianity.Christians believe that Jesus is the Messiah prophesied in the Hebrew Bible, referred to as the "Old Testament" in Christianity. The foundation of Christian theology is expressed in the early Christian ecumenical creeds, which contain claims predominantly accepted by followers of the Christian faith.[11] These professions state that Jesus suffered, died, was buried, and wasresurrected from the dead to open heaven to those who believe in him and trust him for the remission of their sins (salvation).[12]They further maintain that Jesus bodily ascended into heaven where he rules and reigns with God the Father. Mostdenominations teach that Jesus will return to judge all humans, living and dead, and grant eternal life to his followers. He is considered the model of a virtuous life, and both the revealer and physical incarnation of God.[13] Christians call the message of Jesus Christ the Gospel ("good news") and hence refer to the earliest written accounts of his ministry as gospels.
As of the early 21st century, Christianity has around 2.2 billion adherents.[14][15][16] Christianity represents about a quarter to a third of the world's population and is the world's largest religion.[17] Christianity is the state religion of several countries.[18]

Christianity

Christianity is a highly successful monotheistic[1] religion. The largest of the three Abrahamic religions by number of adherents, it emerged from 1st or 2nd century Judaism.
Icon religion.svgChristianity is divided into a multitude of sects, which are almost as different from each other as they are from non-Christian religions. The breadth of Christian belief and practice is enormous, reaching from the highly ritualistic Orthodox and Catholic Churches to other more austere Protestant ones and many many other small or large groups that defy easy categorization. The central tenet of Christianity is that Jesus Christ isGod; specifically, "God the Son" incarnated as a human on Earth in order to suffer, die and rise from the dead as a repayment to God for humansin. The sin in question is explained in the Bible as Eve's eating of a forbidden fruit from the Tree of Knowledge, some 5,000 or so years ago. Under the "New Covenant", anyone who believes in the Son of God can, by accepting this, dwell at God's side in Heaven in the eternal afterlife. All others will be tortured for all eternity.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his Only-Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.
— John 3:16 [2]

iPad

The iPad (pronounced /ˈaɪpæd/, EYE-pad) is a line of tablet computers designed, developed and marketed by Apple Inc.primarily as a platform for audio-visual media including books, periodicals, movies, music, games, and web content. Its size and weight falls between those of contemporary smartphones and laptop computers. The iPad runs the sameoperating system as the iPod Touch and iPhone—and can run its own applications as well as iPhone applications. Without modification, and with the exception of websites, it will only run programs approved by Apple and distributed via its online store.
1stGen-iPad-HomeScreen.jpgLike iPhone and iPod Touch, the iPad is controlled by a multitouch display—a departure from most previous tablet computers, which used a pressure-triggered stylus—as well as a virtual onscreen keyboard in lieu of a physical keyboard. The iPad uses a Wi-Fi data connection to browse the Internet, load and stream media, and install software. Some models also have a 3G wireless data connection which can connect to HSPA or EV-DO data networks. The device is managed and synced by iTunes on a personal computer via USB cable.
Apple released the first iPad in April 2010, and sold 3 million of the devices in 80 days.[16] During 2010, Apple sold 14.8 million iPads worldwide,[7][8][9] representing 75 percent of tablet PC sales at the end of 2010.[17] By the release of theiPad 2 in March 2011, more than 15 million iPads had been sold[18]— more than all other tablet PCs combined.[citation needed] In 2011, it is expected to take 83 percent of the tablet computing market share in the United States.[19]
